Welcome to Wabi-Sabi Pilates & Wellbeing
We're a comprehensive Pilates studio based in Boulder, Colorado.
At Wabi-Sabi, we believe movement should support your real life. That means building strength you can feel when you carry groceries, improving mobility that makes hikes and bike rides more fun, or simply feeling more at home in your body at the end of a long day.
In our North Boulder studio, we offer thoughtful, equipment and mat-based Pilates that’s focused on helping you move better—not just in class, but in all the things you do outside of it. Whether you’re looking to feel steadier on your feet, manage through an injury with more ease, or complement your existing training, our focus is on Pilates that gives you sustainable strength and function.
You don’t have to “get ready” to begin. Wherever you’re starting from is enough—and we’re here to support you. We’ll meet you there—with encouragement, clarity, and support based on wherever you’re starting from.
What is Wabi-Sabi? And What Does it Mean for Your Body and Pilates?
Wabi-Sabi is a Japanese philosophy that honors the beauty in things that are lived-in, imperfect, and always evolving–just like us.
Bodies change. Goals shift. Strength looks different on different days. At Wabi-Sabi Pilates, we embrace that. We don’t expect perfect form or rigid outcomes—we’re here to support your capacity to adapt, strengthen, and grow with presence over perfection. Progress might look like a deep breath, a clearer sense of balance, or the return of a movement you thought you’d lost. All of that counts.
When it comes to our bodies and movement, Wabi-Sabi reminds us that progress isn’t about perfect form or hitting a certain number. Progress happens when we show up, notice small improvements, and embrace the journey exactly as it unfolds. At Wabi-Sabi Pilates, we honor the natural rhythms of your body and support you in building strength and resilience over time, without pressure or comparison. Pilates is a practice that grows with you.
Who Do We Work With?
We welcome a wide range of people—from brand-new beginners to lifelong movers. Some come to us to rebuild after injury or navigate chronic conditions. Others are looking to stay strong and mobile as they age. Many are simply looking for a way to move that feels good and supports how they live, work, and care for others—whether that’s parenting, sitting at a desk all day, or managing stress and fatigue.
You don’t have to be an athlete to belong here. But if you are training for something—whether it’s biking, running, hiking, skiing, triathlon, fishing, golf, tennis or pickleball—Pilates can be a game-changer for Boulder atheletes. It helps build strength where it matters most, improves alignment and breath control, and supports recovery so you can keep doing what you love, longer.

Why Wabi-Sabi and Pilates?
“When I think about movement, progress is rarely linear. Strength changes. Stuff happens. Life shifts. And all of that’s okay.
Wabi-Sabi reminds us that there’s value in that process—that there’s beauty in all of those shifts, and beauty can exist in that messiness, especially in that messiness.”
-Kelly Gorder, owner Wabi-Sabi Pilates, Boulder
What Is Pilates?
Pilates is a system of low-impact, highly intentional movement developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. It’s centered around principles like core strength, breath, control, while balancing mobility and stability. Pilates is often associated with stretching and ab work, but Pilates is absolutely about full-body integration.
Each session uses deliberate movement to build awareness, challenge stability, and develop strength that supports your entire body—especially the muscles that support your spine and joints. Whether it’s Pilates mat work or and spring-based equipment like the Pilates reformer, tower, and chair to create resistance and feedback.
Pilates is adaptable. It can be gentle or intense, slow or dynamic, and tailored to meet you where you are.
It’s a powerful way to stay resilient and balanced, no matter what your goals are.
What Kinds of Classes Do We Offer?
We offer a variety of class formats to meet your needs, preferences, and schedule:
